Statue of Alexander Hamilton

The bronze statue of Alexander Hamilton was presented to the College in 1918, a gift of Thomas R. Proctor. Accepted by the Honorable Elihu Root, Board of Trustees, on behalf of the College, it stands at its original location in front of the Chapel. The sculptor, George T. Brewster, is a direct descendant of Elder William Brewster of Mayflower fame. Born in Kingston, Mass. in 1863, George Brewster graduated from the Massachusetts Normal Art School and Ecole de Beaux-Arts.
