The Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System (CWSS) is a great site for gathering information about ancestors who served in both sides of the American Civil War.

Hamiltons on Civil War Soldiers & Sailors

The US National Parks Service website has a searchable listing of the Soldiers and Sailors that fought in both sides of the Civil War. It lists the names and unit of the individual. Currently, the Sailors part of the database is still a work in progress. Below is a list of the Hamilton Variant Surnames on the site, with the number of individuals.

  • HAMBLETON - 166 Individuals
  • HAMBELTON - 12 Individuals

Membership Information

HAMILTON NATIONAL GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION

We would like to WELCOME you as a new member. Please complete the membership application and return with your check.
Annual Membership Dues: $25.00, U.S. funds and bank.

Life Memberships are $300.00.

We have available to our members, information in the form of copies of all spellings Hamilton/Hambleton materials from county histories, birth-marriage-death-land-Bible, and other records, many census indices and actual readings of the census, many books on the Hamilton surname, and a card file of information on families submitted by the members.

The card file is actually two files, as one is maintained strictly for the Hamilton/Hambleton (all spellings) family, and another for Allied Families, which is any collateral line, or lines you wish to contribute.

Each issue, we print information, in alphabetical order, from each of the before mentioned files, ancestor charts, family histories, etc.

All Pedigree and Family Unit Charts are being entered into our genealogy program. GEDCOM (Genealogical Electronic Data Communication) files are preferred.

Your membership will be on a calendar year if requested, with back issues sent for that period, or from the date of your check.

As a member, you are entitled to unlimited FREE queries, request information from the files, access to the members only portion of our web site, and time permitting, we will attempt to help you make a CONNECTION, by searching books, etc., in our files, as requested. This is strictly a volunteer society, with all records, files, and memberships maintained by the “Director of Operations.”

Free Queries to members! We do not release names or addresses to anyone other than the membership.

You are requested to send a “Pedigree Chart,” and a “Family Unit Chart” for everyone listed on your pedigree, showing as much information as possible on children and spouses. 4x6 file cards for manual files will be prepared from the information you send, at a cost of 4¢ per name. Your information will be checked against other cards to help you find family connections. We also accept GEDCOM submissions.
